way to another coalition meeting, wishing you were all on the internet,
so you could get together online. You're also wondering how to describe
your rural project for that urban funder who has never been out of the
city limits. "Our school sits out in the middle of a pasture and
there's no town around for as far as you can see." No, that won't
do! Whoops! Pay attention! Cow on the road!
The E.D. reminds the staff and board members
that it's time to go out of town for an annual planning meeting. They complain
that they can't afford it, but finally agree to take the bus for an overnight
stay at the Trails End in Last Chance. Milly is put out because there's
no vegetarian food on the menu at the Beef and Bull Diner. Everybody else
says, "just ignore her -- it's menopause!" Priority one for
the coming year turns out to be recruiting younger women for leadership
